About

Speculative Relics research explores the limits and potential of emerging technologies by creating new iterations of legendary lost objects, also inspiring dialogue around their lasting cultural resonance.

From missing manuscripts to lost treasure, a world of cherished cultural materials has vanished in part or in full. These now exist primarily in human memory—unreachable through our digital and physical archives, inaccessible to even the most advanced tools we have today. While we cannot recover them, this project seeks to rediscover them by engaging LLMs and image generators to create speculative versions of these works.

These will be translated into designs with tools like Blender, and ultimately realized as 3D objects, created with analog fabrication processes.
