We hope that you’ll drop by CCAM on February 1 to experience an interactive installation by Visiting Artist Tomoe Tsutsumi! In her new work, the artist draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, as well as casual, multicultural storytelling practices. Each participant will be invited to exchange a story for a cup of tea. Please email CCAM Programs Manager Caitlin Harder (caitlin.harder@yale.edu) to register for this event. There will be two group sessions: From 3pm to 4pm, and from 4pm to 5pm. Participants are asked to stay for the entire hour of their chosen session.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Tomoe is a visual artist living and working in New York, USA. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Parsons and a BFA in Fine Arts, Painting from Colorado State University. She explores the themes of individuality, community, communication and the relationship between them. The medium of her work varies from drawing, painting, sculpture, video, performance and community projects. Her works have been showcased at Socrates Sculpture Park, PULSE Art Fair, and The Kitchen. Most recently her works have been shown at the 4th Kunming Art
Biennale in Kunming, China. Tomoe had been awarded residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Skowhegan, Maine), The Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, Vermont), Can Serrat (El Bruc, Spain), and ResidenceSEA (Crete, Greece).
