12:30PM to 1:30PM

On November 8, CCAM will host a talk by Madison Moore (Guest Artist at the Yale School of Drama) as part of the ongoing Visual Storytelling series. Moore is a cultural critic, writer, DJ, and Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at VCU, and serves as Creative Director and Resident DJ at OPULENCE— an art collective and queer techno party. He holds a PhD in American Studies from Yale University, and has been profiled by The New York Times and the New York Observer. In his first book, “Fabulous: The Rise of the Beautiful Eccentric,” published by Yale University Press, Moore takes fabulous seriously as a radical aesthetic practice, writing powerfully and with vigor, grace and humor about how marginalized people turn pain and struggle into opulence. Moore has lectured on topics related to queerness, blackness, pop culture, music and queer nightlife at universities, art galleries and nightclubs around the world, including Performance Space Sydney, University of Oxford, The Tate Britain, The Barbican, and many others. All are welcome to come hear him speak on Thursday!
