A Computing and the Arts Senior Thesis and Creative Performance Award project by Jairus Rhoades. "Timing Expressivity" explores the expressive power of tempo — the subtle accelerations and decelerations in speech and music that shape how we experience its ebb and flow. Using the matchmaker score-following library, this recital captures moments of timing expressivity in live performance and renders them as expressive visuals in real time. The performance and lecture will feature works by Glass performed by Jairus Rhoades, alongside works by Dvořák and Britten performed by the Chromas Ensemble, a New York-based orchestra directed and founded by Pablo Molano, Jairus Rhoades, and Lucas Amory.
