CCAM Design Brigade: Speaking Dance

The CCAM Design Brigade 2022 cohort invites you to experience “Speaking Dance,” a projections and physical installation inspired by ongoing oral histories of dance in New Haven. “Speaking Dance” draws on 33 oral history interviews conducted to date by the New Haven Dance History Project. As an installation of moving images, it represents dance spaces integral to New Haven’s dance history: the studio, the institutional stage, and the communal dance scene. The installation was designed for the New Haven Dance History Project by the Yale students involved in Design Brigade this summer, in partnership with the Yale Dance Lab and Yale Schwarzman Center.
