Interdisciplinary Arts Awards support collaborative interdisciplinary arts research projects by Yale students across diverse fields of study, both undergraduate and graduate alike. Reflecting the mission of the Center for Collaborative Arts and Media, these awards are intended to support those student research projects that best demonstrate 1.) a commitment to collaborating creatively and critically across fields; 2.) a conception for how to drive innovative practice; and 3.) a plan to utilize the unique resources of the center to explore new formal and aesthetic possibilities within the proposed medium or field. Applicants should indicate how their proposals drive innovative and collaborative arts research, and how they plan to utilize the center's resources to fulfill their goals. Special consideration will be given to proposals that make innovative use of the center's resources, demonstrate ability to achieve project goals, and craft novel frameworks for collaborative arts research. Finalists may be asked to submit additional application materials for consideration. Award recipients are required to meet regularly throughout the Spring semester with faculty mentors and members of the selection committee to provide regular status reports and project documentation; regular meeting intervals will be determined by the selection committee before awards are distributed. Recipients are also required to present work and a final project documentary at the Center for Collaborative Arts and Media in April 2018. Material and equipment resources purchased with grant funds are the property of the center and must be returned at the conclusion of the project, in May 2018.
