3:00PM to 4:30PM

This 7-day workshop at Center for Collaborative Arts and Media will explore the concept of inside and outside space of a public building, and the juxtaposition of the superficial and underlying conflicts we face in current society in public events, such as rallys and demonstrations in linkage to social media. We will explore how the wrapping (projection) of the building can change its identity and the engagement of the public towards it. The projection on the surface of a public building can transform its function into a temporary stage. The temporality and scale of the projection make it a powerful tool for visual storytelling. For this specific project, we will integrate Augmented Reality (AR) technology to the video projection. Projection itself is an augmentation of the physical reality of the building. Yet, what do we want to share with the public beyond what we see
instantly through projection? Are there possibilities to augment different senses to affect the perception? Will this make the experience more inclusive to the audience with different physical capabilities? Assuming that everybody owns a smartphone, we will use this tool to bridge the physical reality with virtual reality.

The individuals’ works will deal freely with the questions that rise during the first session of the workshop, and the finished works will be compiled into the format of the video projection plus AR. The number of participants is limited to 10.

Workshop Schedule:

Thursday Nov 16: 3pm-4:30pm
Friday Nov 17: 3pm-4:30pm
