Answers

Does CCAM offer a degree?

No, CCAM is not a degree granting program. Yale courses are taught at CCAM and the center is used as a laboratory for interdisciplinary curriculum for courses across the university. For a complete list of courses please visit our Yale curriculum page.

Who do I ask for help?

For help with technology, the CCAM Lending Lab, run by the Yale Student Technology Collaborative, is open on weekdays from 4-8 PM and on Monday and Friday morning from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. For help navigating the CCAM's resources, there are Temporary Experts posted in the lobby who can help guide you.

Are there jobs for students at CCAM?

Each fall CCAM hires twelve student workers known as Temporary Experts. To see when the CCAM is hiring, please consult Yale's Student Job Search.

How do I become a CCAM Studio Fellow?

Applications for the CCAM studio fellowship open the first week of the fall semester. The studio fellowship is for upper level students and graduate students. The application process is competitive and up to eight studio fellows are selected each academic year.

Who can check out equipment from the CCAM Lending Lab?

The lending lab is open to all Yale students, faculty, and staff. A valid Yale NetID is required upon check-out.

Does CCAM partner with faculty and/or other organizations to write collaborative grants?

Yes, CCAM can be a partner on academic and industry grants. Both Dana Karwas and Justin Berry have PI status at the university.

Can I get a tour of CCAM for my group? 

We frequently give tours to various groups visiting the university. Email ccam@yale.edu to schedule a tour.

How do I log into the computers?

You can log in using your Yale NetID and password.

Are my files safe if I save them to the hard drives of the local computers?

Files are routinely deleted from the CCAM computers on Fridays, so be sure to save your work on your personal drive!

What software is available?

The CCAM offers Adobe Creative Suite, Atom, Audacity, Blender, DaVinci Resolve Studio, FBX Review, Final Cut Pro X, Isadora, Java, Jedit, Logic Pro, Max/MSP/Jitter, Maya, Meshmixer, MotionBuilder, Mudbox, Processing 3, Rhino, Sublime Text, TouchDesigner, Unity, and Visual Studio.

Do I need to be in a class to use the space?

No. The CCAM is open to all Yale affiliates.

Can I use Leeds Studio for a performance?

How do I dispute my lending lab late fee?

To challenge an overdue fee, please fill out this form.

Can I still use the space after I graduate?

Individuals with no current formal affiliation with Yale University, including alums, may not make use of the resources of the CCAM unless enrolled in an academic course as an auditor.
